London Life | The Official Move

Image
Over my past few internships in London, I've posted a series of 'London Life' blog posts.. so it seems fitting to resume with the series, now that I've moved back (long-term!!) It's been nearly a month since you guys have heard from me (apologies), but I swear I have been super busy! Currently in my sixth week working for ROKSANDA and living in London and I'm absolutely loving it... With everything happening so fast, in terms of getting offered the job and moving, I didn't really have an option, other than to dive in head first and make the most of it. I arrived in London on Friday, the 31st of March, moved into my new flat on the 1st of April and started working on Monday the 3rd. I've been so fortunate that I ended up living with two amazing girls, both so sweet and welcoming and have truly made the transition so much easier. Similarly, I'm so grateful for the incredible team that I get to work with every day...

8 Days in London | London Fashion Week

Image
From the 14th to 21st of February, I was in London working up until London Fashion Week. It was a jam packed eight days, full of late nights, early mornings, amazing shows and great people! Arriving in London, on the 14th (Valentines Day), I went straight from Gatwick to the Gareth Pugh Studios in Somerset House. I couldn't wait to get back to the team (there were a few familiar faces from last season, as well as a few lovely new ones too!). It was quite strange arriving so close to fashion week, as before I'd have always been there at least a few weeks, if not a few months, before the show, so I would have seen the collection coming together. However, this time there was five days to go til the show and the majority of the collection was complete, bar a few alterations that would be made after fittings. After I caught up with guys from last season, we got down to business, pretty straight forward jobs of finishing off the garments with fastenings or alterations etc. It ...

London Fashion Week at the Gareth Pugh Studio

Image
Seven weeks later and I’m looking back at an incredible show at London Fashion Week, wishing I could rewind and do it all again. After eight weeks in London, I’m back at home, just to work here for a bit, but it’s fair to say that the Gareth Pugh SS17 collection is never too far from my mind. After six weeks in the studio, I just wanted to take the opportunity to look back on an unforgettable experience. During the time I spent at the Gareth Pugh Studio, I worked alongside an incredible team, embellishing and finishing garments, customising the shoes and producing a range of accessories for the collection consisting of bangles and chokers. As London Fashion Week approached, the hours got longer and one week flew into the next (as expected)! The weeks prior to fashion week are always such a rush, but I thoroughly enjoy and thrive on the adrenaline coming up to a show and I couldn’t wait for it all to come together. Coming down to the final ...

London Life: Week 11 & 12 - The Climax

Image
So this is the final instalment of London Life, Week 11 and 12, easily the most memorable of them all! It was for sure the most hectic my life had been in a long time, working sixteen days straight, with the working day getting longer and longer as the days passed. Working into the night and on the last fews day into the early hours of the morning, but I wouldn't change any of it for the world.  I genuinely can't believe my three months in London are over already. My time in the Giles Studio was the most amazing experience of my life, working along side such an incredible team and meeting so many incredible new people! I can't believe the amount of responsibilities I was given, from hand sewing on a custom wedding gown to dyeing fabric and zips for the latest collection as well as embroidering and finishing quite a few of the final looks for the amazing new Spring Summer collection!  Check it out here  Giles Spring Summer 2016 RTW I'm very proud of Loo...
