London Life: Week 3 - The One When I Got Just A Little Jealous

Image
A quarter of the way through this experience already and it's been a blur, I feel like I've only been here a few days but it's been nearly a month! Monday: So the week began with usual morning routines followed by more embroidery, beginning a new sample for SS16. After that, I delivered a package to Sibling International and cut and notched some patterns with Shannon. Later on, I pieced together more of the large pattern print outs, I think it's become 'my job'. Then I experienced my first moment of jealousy, so the dress that Solange Knowles wore to the Met Gala Ball had been hanging on the rail beside our table for a few days, so it was definitely going to have to be brought somewhere and turns out it's destination was within London which would mean that an intern would more than likely get to deliver it, I was praying for it to me, but unfortunately it was't, bad buzz. The London Eye Tuesday: Tuesday was quiet, just consisting of mor

London Life: Week 2 - Fraying Away My Day!

So that's Week Two complete, already a sixth of the way through my time in the GILES studio. Monday: First day of Week 2 and the one and only Giles Deacon is in studio, after being away all of last week, he was finally back at base and it made the whole situation, all the more surreal. I am really here, in his studio, it just doesn't make sense, like I genuinely don't understand how I got here, but I'm definitely going to make the most of it, while I can! Monday morning started with the routine clean up and some more embroidery sampling. Then I made the trip to Sienna Couture in Battersea, along with ten rather heavy dresses to get some stitching fixed. I returned to the studios and continued embroidering for another while. Shortly after, I was shown how to fray the AW embroidery pieces and continued with that for the rest of the day.. Motoyogo in Spitalfield Markets Tuesday: Tuesday began with more fraying.. initially it was pretty straight forward with

London Life - Week 1: The Big Move

Image
It's finally happened..after a lovely five day break in Reading with Blaithin, Sunday the 5th July had arrived and it was time to make the official move. After a quite comfortable train trip and an awkward tube journey with 30kg of luggage, I arrived to my new apartment on Leman St, East London. Paddington Station The House Hunt Experience: So somehow after months of extremely stressful accommodation hunting and multiple failed plans, my nerves were gone and and I had very little time to sort something out, when.. (extremely long story, short) I found this student complex with a student desperate to sublet her studio apartment for two thirds of it's price, so she could travel for the summer. So here I am in a beautiful, 8th floor studio apartment, all to myself, with only a fifteen minute walk to the studios. With a free gym and dance studio for use 24/7, it couldn't be more ideal! So accommodation was finally sorted and I was all set to start a 12 week internsh
