Fashion Week Feature: New York
The 'Big Four' Fashion Weeks for SPRING/SUMMER 2015 have been running throughout this month. First up we had New York Fashion Week which ran from the 4th to the 11th of September 2014. Closely followed by London, which was from the 12th to the 16th of September. Then onto Milan Fashion Week running from the 17th to the 23rd, bringing us up to Paris, which began on the 23rd and will run until the 1st of October.
I'm gonna give a quick run down of each one, individually. First up is New York. Here's what and who we will be wearing this coming Spring/Summer.
I think the easiest way to some up the opening week, is with three letters: D.V.F.
Diane Von Furstenberg.
DVF was the talk of New York Fashion Week. She can simply do no wrong.
She has brought gingham back and it's more stylish than ever. It made quite a few appearances in the DVF Spring Summer collection in the form of cropped shorts, poplin tops, silk jersey dresses and on bags and sandals, in black, white and blue.
**GINGHAM IS BACK**
Diane Von Furstenberg brought more attention to her fabulous collection with the addition of the two supermodels, Kendall Jenner and Naomi Campbell walking the catwalk in her collection. The DVF collection had everything. Vibrant colours, beautiful prints and even a crop top here and there. Kendall Jenner walked down the catwalk in a gorgeous black and white gingham and white lace dress, with a simple black ribbon band. Naomi Campbell, ageing gracefully as always, appeared in a lovely white dress with a vibrant orange and pink print. There was plenty of beautiful vibrant prints to be seen, floral in particular.
In the words of DVF herself, 'fear is not an option'...which she clearly lives by, with a brave reintroduction of gingham, this whole collection was a massive part of New York Fashion Week, a personal favourite!

Jeremy Scott
I've always been a fan of Jeremy Scott. A major inspiration for my design projects in college. The crazy use of vibrant colours, always catches the eye. I think this collection for Spring/Summer 2015, is perfect... perfect selection of colours and in the perfect proportions too. I really love this collection, with its sixties inspired psychedelic vibe, it can only but make you smile! Scott's collection was accessorised with Miley Cyrus' jewellery collection 'Dirty Hippie' which consisted of neon sculptured pieces of plastic toys and beads.
Michael Kors
The Michael Kors collection blew me away, also a personal favourite. Fantastic use of white and cream lace throughout his fifties fantasy collection. We also can see bright pink peonies embroidered onto an indigo shirt dress, as well as many other floral prints. The floral prints are much more dense and more textured than usual. The whole collection is highly wearable and has a great potential, the skirts were accompanied with either a wooly jumper or a man's shirt. As you can see below the menswear, is very wearable too. A knitted cream hooded jumper and turned up denim 3/4 length jeans.. Overall a very classy and wearable collection.
Oscar De La Renta
It's clear to see Mr. De La Renta has a lot of respect for the classic shapes such as lunching suits, tea shirts, straight trousers and full length ball gowns. The De La Renta collections contained many over sized gingham pencil skirts, contrasting gingham car coats and lace crop tops. Beautiful use of white lace can be seen throughout this collection, accompanied with adorable baby pinks and blues. Quite a reserved collection with subtle colour and gingham combos, along with a few fun and colourful floral dresses for variety!
Here's a few other collections, from the New York runway, that definitely deserved a mention...
Vera Wang
Zac Posen
Veronica Beard
Todd Synder
Carolina Herrera
Alexander Wang
