Red Carpet Review: MTV VMA's 2014

Ok so I know it has been a while since the VMA's...24th of August to be precise. However, I still want to review them, as there was so many unbelievable outfits on the red carpet.

So overall I was blown away by this year's VMA's. From Ariana Grande, Jessie J and Nicki Minaj's outstanding opening performance of 'Break Free', 'Anaconda' and 'Bang Bang' to Beyoncé's performance of pretty much her whole album.. (which no surprise, was a personal highlight!) Topped of with her winning a well deserved Video Vanguard award!

Awards and performances aside, the red carpet was not to be ignored... right up at the top of my best dressed list, without a doubt would be the lovely Demi Lovato..

I can only imagine the amount of jaws that dropped, when Demi walked that red carpet in this stunning long-sleeve Lanvin gown. With a deep V neckline and high thigh slit like this, one can only imagine the potential wardrobe malfunctions, but Demi worked the look elegantly and respectably.

With matching lips, clutch and nails, Demi was keeping her colour  scheme, simple but effective. Along with her half shaven hairstyle, that she is well and truly owning at the moment.

Next up, my Queen Beyoncé looked effortless as usual, in this beautiful Nicholas Jebran piece, from the AW 14/15 collection. A black lace and beaded gown accompanied with 'Lorraine Schwartz' hoop earings and 'Christian Louboutin' open toed heels. With that figure, she easily has to be every designer's dream. It won't take you long to realise that Beyoncé will rarely to do wrong when it comes to my opinion on her wardrobe...she makes everything look beautiful.

Kim Kardashian has literally taken over my life in the last few weeks, in the form of her 'Kim Kardashian Hollywood' iPhone app - who wouldn't wanna pretend to be Kim's BFF for a day or two! Kim went for a quite unique look for this year's VMA red carpet, in this low cut mini dress from Balmain's 2015 resort collection. A black, white and red beaded dress with a plunging neck line, that left little to the imagination. Well accompanied with subtle make up, loose curls and black gladiator sandals.

Nick Jonas definitely ran away with Best Dressed Man in my books. I was rather disappointed with a lot of the guy's looks on the red carpet, only a few truly dressed to impress. For example Usher, Jason Derulo and Austin Mahone and I feel the need to include Adam Levine too, even though he was very casual, but somehow worked it. Nick Jonas did it for the team, when he turned up in this amazing 3 piece Vivienne Westwood suit. The navy print waistcoat and matching jacket with chain closure was perfect for the red carpet and a crisp white shirt to complete. However, I'm not a big fan of the choice of footwear, but I'll let him away with it just this once!

Three more people that I definitely think deserve a mention would be Miley Cyrus, the one and only J-Lo and the adorable Chloë Grace Moretz.

Miley Cyrus took a brave, yet successful move with this leather number. Quite a casual look for Miley, black pants and a matching bandeau from Alexandre Vauthier's Fall 2014 collection. Accompanied with her cropped hair style and simple make-up.

Jennifer Lopez is still looking as fresh as ever. At 45 years of age, its not the glittering metalic dress that was catching the attention, it was the astonishing figure she is still more than proud to flaunt. In this Charbel Zoe gown, J-Lo was turning heads for all the right reasons. Perfectly accessorised with Jimmy Choo 'Tartini' pumps, Norman Silverman jewellery and a simple Thalé Blanc clutch.

I feel like we're going to be hearing and seeing a lot more of Chloë Grace Moretz in the near future, Between the rumoured relationship between herself and Brooklyn Beckham becoming more and more evident and the amazing roles she is been offered in the film world. Things are only beginning for the star. When you first think of red and pink, your mind automatically flashes warning signs, but Chloë owned this red and pink ensemble from Louis Vuitton resort 2015 collection. With the amount of stars baring skin, Chloë was sure to stand out with a high neckline top, trousers and matching magenta sandals.

If I haven't made it clear enough already, she is my everything...so I couldn't but mention her again.. With a performance, little less than 20 minutes long to close the VMA's for 2014. Beyoncé nailed everything there was to nail. The sparkling, bejewelled bodysuit was custom made Tom Ford, after a similiar styled tunic and pants walked the Spring 2014 runway. Flawless.

The cutest way to possibly finish the awards ceremony, Beyoncé was joined on stage by Jay-Z and Blue Ivy, who presented her with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. If you hadn't been reduced to tears before this, this was surely gunna pull at your heartstrings... and if not... you've probably just got a heart of stone, just saying!
