London Life: Week 8 - Organisational Heaven!

Week eight of twelve complete and London Fashion Week is fast approaching!!

Regent's Park

Monday:

I continued working on my embroidery piece, went to London Trimmings for elastic and spent the evening assembling golden card beetles with super glue for an installation.

Baker Street Station

Tuesday:

Myself and Katie were assigned the job of organising the whole archive, so starting with the Giles AW 2004 collection, we had to sort through every collection, arranging them in order and making note of what was in stock and what wasn't. As you can imagine this took quite a lot of time, but it was great to see all the garments first hand. By then end of Tuesday, we had completed as far as 2008. For those of you who know me, you will know that I do love organisation, so sadly enough, this was a really enjoyable task!

The View from the London Eye

Wednesday:

We were back in the archive again, we spent the first half of the day, organising the collections and photographing any undocumented samples up as far as 2010. The afternoon involved rewriting the records into the folder, to update the archive documents.

Wunderground Festival - Southbank

Thursday:

I was asked to spend the day hand sewing with the professional hand sewers on final garments, which involved sewing the lining to the hems of some dresses, that were for a private client. Later on, I went to London Trimmings for dye and fasteners, followed by preparing the studio for client that was coming in that evening and then we were let off early, which was a great start to a four day weekend.

Boxpark - Shoreditch

Friday:

This weekend was without doubt gonna be a special one, with the arrival of Elsie and Eimear on Friday morning. When they arrived, we made our way to the London Eye for an aerial view of the city, followed by a wander around Southbank. After that we came back to the apartment, got ready and made our way to Victoria to see 'Billy Elliot' in the Victoria Palace Theatre. We had our pre-show dinner in Jamie Oliver's Italian beside the theatre, which to be honest, was rather disappointing for my first experience, nothing wrong with the food, but the waitress that was looking after us, was absolutely awful, one issue after another! Fortunately, another waitress began looking after us, which just about saved the experience. We then went to see 'Billy Elliot' which absolutely blew my mind!! So many incredibly talented kids, so emotional too! Highly recommend it! After that we made a quick trip to The Shard before returning home.

The Victoria Palace Theatre

Saturday:

In the morning, we made our way to Oxford Street for a few hours, followed by a cheesy photo trip to Abbey Road to recreate the Beatles and then onto Platform 9 and 3/4 in King's Cross Station for another photo opportunity. We then returned to the apartment, got changed, had a few drinks and went for dinner at BYRON which was delicious, followed by a few more drinks, great night had by all!

The Breakfast Club

Sunday:

We started off the day with a feast in The Breakfast Club on Artillery Lane beside Spitalfield Markets, which was incredible, we were absolutely stuffed leaving. We then began exploring the markets at Spitalfields and Brick Lane along with Box Park, finishing up at Hummingbird Bakery for a delicious cupcake. Later on, we made our way back towards Victoria, with a quick stop at Buckingham Palace. We ate our last supper in Pizza Express and I then parted with the girls at Victoria Station for them to return to Ireland and I returned to the apartment for the X Factor (which I must say, I am delighted that it has returned). Amazing weekend was had with the girls, so glad that they came to visit. Very grateful for the Bank Holiday Monday, to recover from our adventurous weekend!
